Kent School District creates “Promises Made Promises Kept” website

The website is available for information about projects funded by the capital improvement bond

The Kent School District’s new website “Promises Made Promises Kept” is available to the community for information about projects funded by the capital improvement bond.

The purpose for the website is to inform the community, families, and staff regularly on the progress and completion of bond projects the community passed in the November 2016 general election.

Information can be sorted by project and/or school with regular announcements of when a project has been completed. Photos of before and after as well as information on how and why the projects were done will also be available on the site.

One of the first projects scheduled from the measure will be the new Covington Elementary School, with ground breaking in spring of 2017.

The 252-million-dollar bond will pay for two new elementary schools, 20 additional classrooms, and nine new multipurpose rooms for students, staff, and the community. The bond also funds improvements to athletic facilities, new safety systems, additional disability access ramps, and more. With the bond’s passage, Washington State will provide an additional 7.2 million dollars in matching funds to district improvements. The new bonds will replace expiring bonds without raising overall school tax rates.
