The Kent School District (KSD) will host its annual Technology Exposition at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Kent ShoWare Center.
Over 100 booths will feature KSD students and teachers demonstrating how technology is used in their classrooms alongside local businesses showcasing technology in careers.
This partnership provides students and community members a chance to see how technology skills acquired today translate directly into future professions.
There are three new featuresat the 2012 Tech Expo: state employment representatives will discuss the current technology job climate;organization representatives will share scholarship opportunities for students in grades 7-12; and Boeing employees will provide information regarding careers within The Boeing Company.
Technology isn’t just about the latest fancy gadget; it is also about problem solving, creativity, basic education, and real world application.
KSD Board President Debbie Straus stated in a press release, “I encourage the greater community to come to the Tech Expo and experience first-hand how our teachers use technology to successfully prepare students with 21st century knowledge andskills that they will need to succeed in their futures.”
Superintendent Dr. Edward Lee Vargas stated, “Our Tech Expo is an excellent example of partnerships in action. From the generous support by partners such as The Boeing Company to the excellent collaboration among ourteachers to ensure the integration of 21st century skills into our classrooms, we are most fortunate to live in acommunity highly committed to each and every student’s success. We hope you take this opportunity to see yourinvestment at work.”
Last year’s Tech Expo was a huge success with more than 3,000 people who attended.
This event is organized by the KSD and sponsored by The Boeing Co. and other local businesses.
