Kent School District is encouraging all eighth-grade students who are eligible to sign up for the College Bound Scholarship by the deadline on June 30.

The district’s goal is to have 100 percent of eligible students signed up.

The College Bound Scholarship provides tuition (at public institution rates) not covered by other financial assistance programs to eligible high school graduates who enroll at public colleges, universities and other higher education programs in Washington.

To be eligible for the scholarship, eighth-grade students whose families meet income requirements must sign up by the June 30 deadline and pledge to get good grades, demonstrate good citizenship and successfully enroll in an eligible higher education institution.

Income eligibility is re-checked in the student’s senior year in high school.

Students and families may get more information about College Bound and apply on line by visiting www.collegebound.wa.gov or by contacting their school.
