In preliminary results the Kent School District students surpass state average in reading and writing proficiency

Preliminary results indicate that 96.5 percent of the Kent School District class of 2013 passed the reading and writing High School Proficiency Exam, exceeding the state average of 93 percent.

Preliminary results indicate that 96.5 percent of the Kent School District class of 2013 passed the reading and writing High School Proficiency Exam, exceeding the state average of 93 percent.

The District said in a statement that that rate is expected to increase as an additional 290 students have signed up to take the August 2013 reading and writing proficiency exam as of June 30.

Passing the High School Proficiency Exams is required for graduation. Final results will be available in the fall.
