At 10:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, units from Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety, the Black Diamond Fire Department and the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority responded to a report of a house fire in the 20700 block of SE 287 Street.
When the first units arrived on scene, they found the attached garage of a single story house fully engulfed in flames. The fire had also spread to the main house and to another building on the property. Firefighters quickly attacked the fire in the garage while protecting the separate building. At the same time, other firefighters went into the house to stop the flames from spreading.
No one was hurt in the incident and the two occupants were able to get out safely thanks to a neighbor’s warning. The couple will be staying with other family.
A King County Fire Investigator is on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
