Healthy Soil Practices workshop hosted by Maple Valley Public Works department set for April 24

Certified Erosion Control Specialist, Jami Burke, of Cedar Grove Composting. will talk about how to build healthy soil that that lawns, gardens, and landscapes will thrive in that are fish friendly and protect water quality.

Maple Valley’s Public Works Department will host a free Healthy Soil Practices workshop on at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 at the Lake Wilderness Lodge.

Certified Erosion Control Specialist, Jami Burke, of Cedar Grove Composting. will talk about how to build healthy soil that that lawns, gardens, and landscapes will thrive in that are fish friendly and protect water quality.

In addition Burke will talk about phosphorus — what it is, how it’s used and regulated, and the role it plays in water quality issues such as toxin producing Cyanobacteria blooms that were recently experienced in Lake Wilderness.

Cedar Grove Composting and the city will offer coupons and other free items.
