At 10:52 a.m. t five employees of a business in the 6300 block of South 199th Place were examined by members of the Kent Fire Department after they complained of a strange smell inside the building and various symptoms. Two were sent to a local hospital as a precaution. The other three declined aid.
The Kent Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Response Team took air samples after evacuating the building but was unable to find anything unusual or pinpoint the source of the problem. Employees were allowed back into the building at approximately noon and a company was brought in to examine the HVAC system for malfunctions.
The affected business works with plastic films and adhesives.
