Fundraiser scheduled for Parsons Children Trust Fund

St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church will host a Mardi Gras Festival and Cajun dinner on Saturday, March 5, with proceeds benefiting the Parsons Children Trust Fund.

The two benefits will be raising funds for three children, ages 12, 10 and 6, whose mother, Carol Gene Parsons, was shot and killed on March 17, 2010. They are now being raised by their maternal grandmother and a great aunt.
The Mardi Gras Festival, called “A Gift of Hope,” is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will begin with a family festival featuring games, face painting, mask making, inflatables, items for adults and children in bucket raffles, a junk food buffet, a food court and many other fun activities. Tickets are 50 cents and will be available for purchase at the event.
The Cajun dinner, auction and evening of live jazz music is for adults only and will start at 6 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $25 per person and must be preordered.
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is located at 25810 156th Ave. S.E. in Covington.
