On Saturday, February 27, from 9:00am to 12:00pm, join the King CD for Pasture Management and Equine Health and Nutrition. Alayne Blickle, horse expert from Horses for Clean Water, will be a guest speaker for this event and will cover pasture management and how it relates to horse health. Learn how to weave pasture, equine nutrition and horse health together along with basic good pasture management. We will cover how grasses grow, creating a winter paddock, liming, spreading compost and rotational grazing. We will also discuss what constitutes a “lush” pasture and how to manage horses and grazing to prevent horse obesity. Part of the workshop will be a discussion of sampling hay and doing a nutritional analysis.
