In December Shannon Henderson, a Business/Computer Science teacher at Kentwood, had two prior students request to return to Kentwood to speak with her students about their current successes and to encourage her students to follow their dreams.
Elliott Brossard had taken computer science courses from Mrs. Henderson while he was a student at Kentwood. He is finishing his master’s degree at University of Washington and already has accepted employment at Google after he graduates. Elliott has completed internships with Amazon and Google. He discussed opportunities available to students in the field of computer science and answered questions about majoring in this field.
Luke Angevine is currently in his senior year at Point Loma University in San Diego majoring in Accounting. Angevine has accepted a job with CBIZ Accounting Firm and will start this job after graduation. He thanks Kentwood for introducing him to classes that motivated him to set goals. These goals have led him to a lucrative, stable career. Luke was very excited about motivating Kentwood students to consider studying accounting in college.
Having past students share experiences with current students has incredible impact. Students truly listen to others who have walked in their shoes.
