Fire in restaurant cause by vegetable oil | Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety

RESTAURANT FIRE :26800 block of state Route 169. At 11:30 a.m. Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety firefighters were dispatched to a commercial structure fire at a local restaurant. Initial reports were of a cooking fire that was spreading to the walls of the building. Upon arrival firefighters found that the fire had been extinguished by the hood fire suppression system. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check the building to make sure the fire hadn’t extended into the walls or roof. Damage was estimated at $200. The cause of the fire was from overheated vegetable oil.

  • The fire department responded to three fire calls in the past week – one restaurant kitchen fire, one residential cooking fire and one beauty bark fire.
