King County Elections released the latest results for the Tuesday general election and in the close races the finish lines is in sight.

In Maple Valley change looks to be on the way with Bill Allison expanding his lead over Jim Flynn for City Council Position No. 2. Allison tallied 2,239 votes with 52.25 percent to 2,039 and 47.58 percent for Flynn.

Allison has expanded his lead each day with the margin of 93 Tuesday, 119 Wednesday, 134 Thursday and 200 today.

Allison is a first-time candidate. Flynn served for 10 years on the City Council before losing his seat to Councilman Layne Barnes two years ago.

In the mayor’s race in Black Diamond, Rebecca Olness picked up a some breathing room over incumbent Mayor Howard Botts in the Friday tally.

Olness has 481 votes, 52.23 percent and Botts 437, 47.45 percent.

Olness had a lead of three votes Tuesday, 17 Wednesday, 13 Thursday and 44 today.

Neither of these race are close enough at this point to trigger a mandatory recount.

The one flip from Thursday was Black Diamond Proposition No. 1 is failing, with 468 no at 50.76 percent and 454 yes votes, 49.24 percent. The proposition was passing Thursday by six votes. The measure is a public safety services replacement levy. It was passing by a slim margin Tuesday and failing on Wednesday.

In the Tahoma School Board race Tami Henkel won by a wide margin over Melissa Greenstein for the District No. 1 seat.

Henkel’s margin tonight was 4,343 votes with 58 percent to Greenstein with 3,116 and 42 percent. There were 18 write-in votes.
