On March 9, Democrats will gather at the 5th Legislative District caucus in Maple Valley to elect delegates and alternates to the state Democratic convention this summer. Those delegates and alternates will be able to help decide the Democratic platform in Washington state, according to the Democratic Party in the 5th District.

Any Democrat from the 5th LD can run for these positions. All they need to do is declare that they are a Democrat and that they wish to be a delegate or alternate. There are nine delegate and four alternate positions to fill. Any Democrat is eligible. Participation is free.

Who can vote for these delegates? Anyone who is a Democrat in the 5th LD can vote. All 5th LD Democrats are encouraged to show up and help choose the people who will voice their opinions at the state level.

Those who want to run as a delegate or alternate, but cannot attend the caucus, need to contact the party to declare their intentions. Contact information is included below.

The 5th Legislative District stretches from Issaquah and east Sammamish to Snoqualmie Pass. Here is a link to a map: http://app.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder/ . Also visit the 5th LD Democrats’ web site at 5thdems.org, and their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/5th-Dems/360998598554.
