Covington schools celebrate National School Lunch Week as a part of Kent School District

This week, Oct. 10-14, the Kent School District is celebrating National School Lunch Week.

This week, Oct. 10-14, the Kent School District is celebrating National School Lunch Week.

National School Lunch Week is a program designed to promote locally sourced foods in the school districts.

Kent School District serves approximately 20,000 meals each day to students, according to Chris Loftis, executive director of communications and school/community partnerships for Kent School District. 53,936 lunches were served to children in the district this summer.

Last year, 151 food service employees prepared, delivered and served 3,563,685 meals last year.

The Kent School District Board of Directors signed a proclamation declaring Oct. 10-14 declared as National School Lunch Week on Sept. 28.
