Covington Community Park will open with a ribbon cutting and celebration at 11 a.m. June 8.

The event will feature the Kentwood High School marching band, players from Seattle’s new women’s professional soccer team, Seattle Reign, exhibitions by soccer teams from Covington Community Sports and Kent Covington Youth Soccer and more.

The grass field is currently closed to allow the root system to develop and will open for youth soccer season in the fall.

Other features of the park include a pasture, kite hill, and over a mile of trails.

The park is located at 17649 Southeast 240th Street and is open from sunrise to sunset.
