The Metropolitan King County Council’s Transportation, Economy and Environment (TrEE) Committee will receive a special briefing on the steps the King County Sheriff’s Office and Metro Transit are taking to ensure the safety of passengers and bus drivers:

The meeting will be carried LIVE on King County TV, which can be viewed on Comcast and Wave Cable Channel 22.

The members of the committee will meet with and receive briefings from:

  • Major Dave Jutilla, Metro Transit Police
  • Rob Gannon, Deputy General Manager, Metro Transit
  • Kenny McCormick, President / Business Representative, ATU Local 587

Committee Chair Rod Dembowski has introduced legislation calling for a transit passenger and operator security action plan which will review expanding video cameras on Metro coaches, staffing levels of Metro Transit Police and fare enforcement policies. The legislation is attached.

The Council’s Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee considers and makes recommendations on polices relating to transportation policies and regulations related to both regional transit and county roads.
