The Maple Valley Planning Commission will hold a public heard to take comment regarding proposed amendments to the city sign code at 7 p.m. on Dec. 4.

Developed collaboratively in 1997 with local businesses and adopted in 1999, current sign code does not allow A-board signs.

The proposed changes will create a new code section to allow the placement of portable signs by local businesses, including A-board, T and H frame signs. The proposed sign code amendment will address the size, number of signs, location and when the signs may be displayed.

Another change in the proposal is to ensure civic event or community service portable signs comply with the same standard as commercial signs eliminating the current inequalities.

The Planning Commission’s public hearing on the sign code amendments will be held at the Tahoma School District Board Room, 25720 Maple Valley – Black Diamond Highway beginning at 7 p.m.
