City Council delays authorizing priority based budgeting method

The Maple Valley City Council met Monday, July 27 to discuss the potential for a priority based budgeting method

At Monday night’s meeting, the Maple Valley City Council concurred to delay authorizing the city manager to negotiate and execute a contract with the Center for Priority Based Budgeting for another week.

Councilman Dana Parnello stated he wanted data on how many cities have gone through the priority based budgeting process and are similar in population and budget size to Maple Valley.

Deputy Mayor Sean Kelly said Tuesday morning he thinks staff will be able to get that information to the council by the next meeting, which is slated for 7 p.m. on Aug. 3.
