The city of Maple Valley’s annual asphalt overlay program is scheduled to get underway June 21 through June 23 depending on weather conditions.

The following locations have been determined for the 2011 pavement overlay program:

  • 220th Ave SE/SE 259th St. from Witte Road SE to address 21772
  • SE 256th Street from 220th Ave SE to Witte Road SE
  • SE 263rd Place from 220th Ave SE to SE 264th Street
  • SE 264th Street from 217th Ave SE to 220th Ave SE
  • Witte Road SE from the north side of SE 231st Street to 330′ East of SR-169

The asphalt overlay project includes asphalt grinding of pavement at the end and beginning of the paving project limits. The city anticipates the work will take three consecutive days; one day for the grinding work and two days for the asphalt overlay.

During the grinding and overlay work, vehicle traffic will be directed by flaggers working for the contractor. On-street parking will be prohibited prior to, and during, the grinding and paving work. The contractor will post NO PARKING signs 24 to 48 hours or more before the work is to begin to provide advance notice of no parking. Alternative access will be available through the back gate by the boat launch into Cherokee Bay on 217th Ave SE and SE 264th Street. We ask that you please obey the no parking signs to avoid having vehicles impounded. The contractors work hours will be between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays; no weekend work will occur.

The grinding and paving work will be done by Lakeside Paving and will be monitored by King County Roads and the City of Maple Valley Construction Inspector, Tom Bowen. Mr. Bowen can be reached by cell phone at 206-391-8160 should you have any questions.
