Army Pvt. Antonia Elena Navejas has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla., as an honor graduate and received a letter of commendation.
During the nine weeks training, Navejas studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill, ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat and field maneuvers and tactics.
Navejas, a multimedia illustrator, is the daughter of Ruben and Irene Navejas of Covington, Wash.
She is a private a 2009 graduate of Kentwood High School.
