Amateur Radio Field Day

The Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority (RFA) will be hosting the Amateur Radio Relay League (or “ham”) field day on June 24. This is a public event.

Ham radio is a wireless radio system that allows users to communicate worldwide. The licensed users to this can be an invaluable resource during time of disaster or large scale event. There are over 725,000 licensed radio operators in the United States.

The event they are hosting will have displays and hands-on activities designed to introduce the public ham radio and disaster preparedness.

Some of the displays and activities include King County Medic One, Tri-Med Ambulance, ham Radio demonstrations, treasure hunt and drone demonstrations.

The location is at the Police/Fire Training Center.
