Following state guidelines, city officials report that caution signs will remain posted along the Lake Wilderness shoreline in Maple Valley even though the toxin levels from the late August blue-green algae bloom have measured at trace amounts, well below the state’s baseline, for the past four weeks.

With the exceptionally warm autumn city officials warn that the blue-green algae could rebound and the public should continue to be vigilant and keep children and pets out of any visible scum. Every-other week algae sampling will continue through October 18th and updates will be posted on the city website at HYPERLINK “http://www.ci.maple-valley.wa.us” www.ci.maple-valley.wa.us.
