Late-afternoon drivers using State Route 18 between the Covington-Maple Valley area and State Route 167 today encountered the later stages of an accident that blocked traffic in both directions in Auburn.

From 10:30 a.m. to about 4 p.m., a collision in SR-18’s westbound lanes pushed the median barrier into the eastbound lane at the Auburn Way South overpass. The left lane both ways was blocked as a result, according to the state Department of Transportation.
