Cory Allyn Duke, a Renton resident, was sentenced to 15 months in prison Oct. 21 for vehicular homicide related to an accident in which a 17-year-old female was killed.

In August, he had plead guilty to vehicular homicide and reckless endangerment.

Duke, 19, was charged in April after a vehicle he was driving crashed Dec. 28, 2010 along Sweeney Road SE near Maple Valley.

One of the passengers, Shelby Lee, 17, was sitting in the front passenger seat and sustained fatal injuries when the right side of the vehicle struck a fire hydrant. Two other passengers in the vehicle were unharmed.

According to the charging papers, Duke admitted he had been driving around 75 mph in a 40 mph speed limit when the accident occurred.

King County prosecutors suspected Duke’s driving had a direct correlation with Lee’s death.

15 months is the minimum sentence range.
