The All Star Cheer and Dance Academy collected toys at the cheer event Saturday at the Kentwood High School. Following the event 1,209 toys were delivered to the Kent Fire Station No. 78 in Covington and the group raised $805 through a raffle for the families of the four slain Lakewood police officers. The South Elite All Stars performed at the event.
The Lake Wilderness Golf and Country Club community has scheduled the holiday lights food drive for 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the entrance to the community at 25400 Witte Rd. S.E.

Visiting Russian dancers Dmitry Zavalishin and Maria Makarenko from the Kirov Ballet in St. Petersburg will lead the cast in International Ballet Theatre’s classical production of “The Nutcracker” through Dec. 23 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue.
IBT’s production honors the original style and character of the ballet as it was first created by Tchaikovsky and Marius Petipa in St. Petersburg in 1892. This holiday standout is steeped in Russian tradition, featuring museum quality backdrops, exquisite costumes and premier guest artists.

“I am proud to say my school hosts Munch Madness every November,” Kentwood senior Nicole Schreiber said.
