Maple Valley Creative Arts Center.

Michael Lentz will be teaching the “Fundamentals of Drawing from Life.” The workshop is scheduled for eight weeks from 7-10 p.m., Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 20. The cost is $200.

Lentz said he will teach students “if you see something being able to draw it. I will be focusing on giving them all the different tools.”

He said art is the “science of seeing. I believe anyone can do it and I am interested in giving people the tools to draw from life.”

The 27-year-old Lentz said he studied animation at the Art Institute of Seattle and with two master artists in San Diego, Jeff Watts and Ron Lemen.

Lentz said he did not begin drawing until he was 20.

“I thought I would go into animation because it would be easy,” Lentz said. “It wasn’t easy, but it was a journey.”

Lentz said he has become a very positive person through his artwork.

“I’ve learned all we can control is how we see (experiences),” Lentz said. “When it comes to art I try to get fired up. The end goal of the class is to learn art, get better and being awesome in art. The class will be awesome.”

Lentz said the only requirement for the class was a willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
