The city of Covington will be putting on its own tree lighting ceremony, among other events on December 5.

The city of Covington will be putting on its own tree lighting ceremony, among other events on December 5.

Reindeer Dash 5k for Food:

• 8 a.m. check-in; 8:30 a.m. run start.

• Check-in will be in the Valley Medical Center North Clinic parking lot, by City Hall. • Registration is $5 or 5 non-perishable food items. • Pre-registration is not required. • Goody Bags and reindeer antlers for the first 100 participants.

Pancake Breakfast and Santa Photos:

• 9 a.m. to noon.

• City Hall community room. • Annual pancake breakfast including photos with Santa. Breakfast is free with cash or food donation for area food banks.

Craft Bazaar:

• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Jenkins Creek Elementary School

• Shop for handmade gifts.

Gift of Life Blood Drive

• Noon to 3 p.m.

• Safeway parking lot.

• Cascade Regional Blood Services Bloodmobile will be available for people to donate blood.

Community Tree Lighting Ceremony:

• 4 p.m. to 6. • Don Henning Roundabout(by Pier 1 Imports).

• Festivities begin at 4 p.m. , tree lighting at 5 and Santa arrives at 5:30. • Singing, hot cocoa, holiday music, live reindeer and santa will all be part of the ceremony. Free caroling guides with coupons to local businesses will also be handed out at the event.
