Stop development in Black Diamond, Maple Valley and Covington until roads widened | Letter

Let me add my voice to the rising chorus of citizens who clearly understand that no more development can be allowed in Black Diamond, Maple Valley and Covington, until state Route 169, state Route 516, and numerous other east-west roads can be widened to accommodate the traffic we have right now!

I face mile-long traffic jams on Kent-Kangley (SR516) just trying to get into Covington to shop, bank or eat out (Covington planners, take note). No matter how many environmental impact studies are made, they all seem to end up declaring “no significant environmental impact will be made”. Explain this to the citizens who have to use our severely impacted roads, creeping along in stop-and-go lines of cars, trucks and buses spewing out a foul mixture of gasoline and diesel exhaust.

It’s time to tell the developers, “the party’s over, you need to find a new line of work.”
