I am writing to offer my wholehearted support for Pam McCain, the City Counsel candidate for Black Diamond.
Bill Woodcock for City Council is a name I have been waiting to see on the ballot for a long time. One of the big reasons I love this town is people like Bill Woodcock.
Covington City Council elections are on the horizon. Our City Council members are important in the development, progress and reputation of our city. I urge readers to vote for the incumbent Marlla Mhoon for Covington City Council.
The Tahoma Education Association is proudly endorsing Karen Crowe for Position No. 5 on the Maple Valley City Council.
Recently the Covington City Council has made the decision to go forward and possibly increase the utility tax to construct the first phase of Covington Community Park.
I have been very involved in local athletics for the past 15 years. I have coached many of your sons and daughters in youth sports and currently coach girls fastpitch at Kentlake High School.
Although I understand the need for more athletic fields I do not believe that it is fiscally prudent to move forward at this time.
Over the years Noel has exceeded my expectations as a council member. He has proven over and over his dedication to our city and its changing needs.
Mary Alice Heuschel is running for hospital commissioner of Valley Medical Center, she is the best candidate for this position and the only candidate who is prepared to manage our tax dollars and make decisions affecting our health.
Jenny Rydberg is an excellent choice for fire commissioner for our Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety organization. The fire commission is an important local organization that establishes policy and oversees its budget and operations with a five-member board of commissioners.
I am writing to endorse Bill Woodcock for Maple Valley City Council. Besides being our home, our city is a business and needs to be run like one. The city had current assets of $16,450,963 on Dec. 31, 2010, down $1,594,388 from one year before. While not being in as dire of straits as many other cities, we still have room for improvement.
We mailed our ballots for the candidates in the Black Diamond City Council Positions No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5. We voted for two incumbents and one new candidate. The two incumbents, Leih Mulvihill and Kristine Hanson, have both shown great leadership under trying circumstances during the recent hearings. We believe that they have both represented the majority view and opinions of their constituents.
Maple Valley is blessed with a rather active and generous community support network. You know the names of many. You can’t help but see their work. They are what add up to Maple Valley receiving our designation by a national publication as one of the top 10 places in the entire U.S. in which to raise a family.
When I came to City Council, I took a vow to represent every one of the 23,000 Maple Valley residents. As a sitting councillor, I attend countless meetings and community events throughout the year; Monday night meetings, committees, commissions, fundraisers, ribbon cuttings, organizational meetings for events, public outreach and so much more. Some events are more interesting and enjoyable. Frankly, some I could do without. But you know, that comes with the territory of public service. So, I attend what events I can.
I would like to thank the Maple Valley Reporter for this opportunity to respond to comments that have been made about me and to me during this campaign. I have made campaign issues of the first two items, the third issue was thrust upon me. You the voters must decide the importance of these issues and cast your votes accordingly.
After watching the mayor’s recent performance at the council debate, I feel the need to educate Maple Valley. I am a long time resident of Maple Valley who also happens to own a business in the city. It is for these reasons that I feel a strong responsibility to others in the community. In any city the overall health can be determined by the mayor and council’s management of resources. I feel that our current mayor has zero regard for small business and does not value it as a city resource.
In an unprecedented move, the Black Diamond Police Officers Association has endorsed Kristine Hanson for re-election to Black Diamond City Council Position No. 1. This marks the first time in its four year existence that the BDPOA has endorsed a political candidate.
If you want Maple Valley to move forward and actually have a reason to stay here in the valley to shop and do business, then Bill Woodcock needs to be elected to the Maple Valley City Council this November.
I have had the privilege to act as a “Moderator” at two different venues or forums recently where candidates for various city council positions spoke and fielded questions posed by the Chamber of Commerce, the Maple Valley Reporter and audience members.
I have known Sean P. Kelly for a number of years, and I think it is important that voters learn about who Sean really is.
I believe Bill Woodcock has the background, experience and passion to be a great city councilor.
I have known Sean P. Kelly since he was a young boy. I understand Sean’s desire to want to continue to be involved in the future of this community. I see his passion and care for this community through his involvement in multiple community events, youth activities and local politics.
