City councilman supports Noel Gerken for the Maple Valley City Council | Letter

Maple Valley is blessed with a rather active and generous community support network. You know the names of many. You can’t help but see their work. They are what add up to Maple Valley receiving our designation by a national publication as one of the top 10 places in the entire U.S. in which to raise a family.

We are so very fortunate that one of the most involved is willing to continue his dedication to public service. Through his longstanding activity in a wide variety of public service roles, Noel Gerken brings the perspective and experience needed to help represent all of our interests as a continued member of City Council.

Through his work on five Regional Transportation committees, Noel has helped bring regional relevance to what was once a sleepy little hamlet. Noel Gerken has helped give Maple Valley a voice with the county and the state; essential partners on major public works projects.

I can cite the numerous examples of dedicated service; the board positions for the school, fire and community center, his youth sports involvement; you’ve read them elsewhere. What is more impressive is the demonstrated track record of sound decision making: supporting the addition of needed police (resulting in the removal of 40 felons and nearly $1 million of drugs from our community) supporting the Witte Road roundabout (earning the city prestigious accolades from auditors and WSDOT) supporting bringing the TRM/Fred Meyer project to town (and with it, hundreds of local jobs) championing a hard fought mitigation agreement on the YarrowBay developments to the south (dedicating $17 million of their future dollars to our transportation infrastructure).

Noel listens. Noel doesn’t hesitate to ask hard questions and has shown that he won’t let our Maple Valley be victimized by outside interests, nor will he allow our capture by internal special interests. Noel Gerken is good for Maple Valley.

It has been my honor to serve on council with Noel. I support his continued role on City Council. He has risen well above the oath he has sworn to uphold. He has shown he can be trusted to satisfy his obligations.

Please join me to re-elect our proven, effective, committed Councilor. Please vote for Noel Gerken, Maple Valley City Council.
