The Black Diamond hearing examiner sent an e-mail today denying the city of Maple Valley’s request to participate in the final environmental impact statement (FEIS) appeals hearing scheduled for March 6.
Maple Valley is concerned about the traffic impact on the city from two YarrowBay developments in Black Diamond, The Villages and Lawson Hills.
The FEIS document, among other issues, outlines how YarrowBay will remedy the impact of traffic from the development.
Ginger “Mama” Passarelli won a spaghetti throw down Monday at her Black Diamond restaurant over Tom Kasper. Passarelli donated a $1,000 spaghetti feed dinner for 30 at the November Maple Valley Rotary auction and Kelly Snodgrass was the winner.

According to Sung Yang, director of government relations for Constantine, a one-year extension for the purchase and sale of the property has been offered with YarrowBay paying more money in the first two phased payments of the property, but the overall price of the property would not increase.
John Tatarak was presented with a Life Safety Certificate from Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety for his actions during a fire Dec. 10 at the Wilderness Village Laundromat.
The 56-year-old Tatarak said he had come into the laundromat to do his laundry because his washing machine broke.
The Tahoma High wrestling team came out on top of the heap in the Region 1 4A wrestling tournament Saturday at Auburn High School and now the team has its sights set on the state crown.
