Washington State Department of Transportation to close I-90 for rock blasting one hour Sept. 21,22,23 and 24

The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews will close I-90 for rock blasting for about an hour each night from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, Tuesday, Sept. 22, Wednesday, Sept. 23 and Thursday, Sept. 24.

Eastbound traffic will be stopped at Gold Creek at milepost 56 and westbound traffic will be stopped at Price Creek at milepost 61. In the same area, drivers will also experience minor delays during the day due to rolling slowdowns and nighttime lane closures in both directions weeknights.

Near Cle Elum, drivers will experience delays due to single lane closures in both directions 24/7 through October. Crews will adjust the detour to facilitate heavier traffic on the weekends.

The westbound off-ramp to Cle Elum and Wenatchee at exit 85 is closed to traffic through Thursday, Oct. 8.  A detour will be in place to direct traffic to the next westbound off-ramp at exit 84. This project improves three miles of pavement on westbound I-90 in the Cle Elum area.

Drivers will also see delays across the Vantage Bridge due to a single lane eastbound closure, which is in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until this fall.

Drivers are encouraged to use the following tools to plan their trips over I-90 this summer:
