Firefighters remove woman from car in swamp area near state Route 18 | Black Diamond Fire Report

State Route 18. Firefighters and emergency personnel responded to a car that had driven into a swamp-marsh area off the state Route 18 eastbound ramp at about 10 a.m. When units arrived they found a senior woman in the car with minor injuries. The car was 30 feet in knee deep water, mud and weeds.

  • CAR IN SWAMP: State Route 18. Firefighters and emergency personnel responded to a car that had driven into a swamp-marsh area off the state Route 18 eastbound ramp at about 10 a.m. When units arrived they found a senior woman in the car with minor injuries. The car was 30 feet in knee deep water, mud and weeds. The car was about 20 feet down a muddy slope from the road. Firefighters called additional resources for equipment and manpower to remove the woman from the car and the water. Once the woman was removed from the vehicle she was put onto a specialized stretcher and emergency personnel carried her through the water and up the slope. The woman was transported to a local hospital and the car was removed from the area.

    The accident is still under investigation.
