Tahoma freshman Denham Patricelli wins intermediate boys Junior Olympic National Championship in the javelin

Tahoma freshman Denham Patricelli won the Junior Olympic National Championship for the intermediate boys age division in the javelin event today with a throw of 58.31 meters or 191 feet, three inches.

The throw not only nailed the national title for Patricelli, it set the all-time Washington state record for a freshman and boosts him to second in the nation as a freshman.

The Junior Olympics competition was in Wichita, Kan.

Patricelli finished ninth at the Washington state 2011 meet with a throw of 179-04.

This is the fourth consecutive year a Tahoma student has won the intermediate boys Junior Olympics javelin championship.

Derek Eager won the previous three years. Eager graduated from Tahoma in 2010.
