Rivers and creeks around the Maple Valley, Covington and Black Diamond area began spilling over banks following days of heavy rains.

King County officials issued a Phase IV flood alert for the Cedar River, which was flowing at 4,290 cubic feet per second near Landsburg. A Phase IV flood alert threshold is 4,200 CFS.

Near Maple Valley the Cedar River was flowing over the banks in places.

The Big Soos Creek sent water flowing over the road on Southeast 148th Avenue near the intersection of Southeast 256th Street near Covington.

The Green River was listed at a Phase III flood alert due to releases from the Howard Hanson Dam.

The National Weather Service is forecasting rain for Tuesday and partly sunny skies for Wednesday.

The Cedar River flowed over its banks in the 22400 block of Southeast 216th Place near Maple Valley Jan.17 following several days of heavy rains.
