The T-Birds face the Spokane Chiefs on Tuesday, January 31, at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center.

Seattle (18-28-1-1) got on the board at 13:11 of the first period on a goal by Chance Lund. Tyler Alos had the puck at the top of the slot, and slapped it down towards the net but the puck hit a Kelowna stick and rolled over to Lund to the right of the goal Lund back-handed the puck while turning and sent it into the lower right side of the net past Kelowna goalie Jordon Cooke’s pad.

The Rockets outshot the T-Birds 12-10 in the first period.

At 3:55 of the second period, Kelowna (22-23-2-4) made it 1-1 on a goal by Damon Severson. Shane McColgan and Brett Bulmer had the assists.

The T-Birds went up 2-1 at 5:59 of the second on a goal by Cason Machacek. Machacek grabbed the puck on the left side just inside the Kelowna zone and put a hard wrist shot past Cooke’s glove with traffic in front of the net. Burke Gallimore and Dilon Wagner had the assists.

At 10:50 of the second, Kelowna tied it up 2-2 on a goal by Cody Chikie. Zach Franko had the assist.

Kelowna went up 3-2 at 11:59 of the second on a power-play goal scored by Colton Sissons. The goal was assisted by Myles Bell and Jesse Lees.

Brett Lyon scored at 19:56 of the second to make the score 4-2. Goulbourne and Colton Heffley had the assists.

Kelowna outshot Seattle 21-12 in the second period and led 33-22 in total shots after 40 minutes

T-Birds cut Kelowna lead to one goal at 3:19 of the third period on a great goal by Luke Lockhart. Seth Swenson took a slap shot from the high slot that Cooke stopped. The puck trickled off Cooke’s pad and into the crease. Lockhart was about to slap at the puck when he was knocked down from behind. The puck kept sliding through the crease and from the seat of his pants Lockhart chipped the puck high over Cooke’s outstretched glove. Dave Sutter had the second assist on Lockhart’s 10th goal of the year.

Kelowna finished with a 44-28 advantage in shots on goal.

Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard saved 40 of Kelowna’s 44 shots and his record is now 18-23-1-1.

Cooke made 25 saves on 28 shots, improving his record to 6-5-2-2.
