Kickball championship games feature tough play and upsets

Maple Valley Park and Recreation’s first ever adult coed kickball league finished up with two upsets in the championships.

The first upset was the sixth seeded team, Michael Papritz’s Carbos en Manos, defeated the 7-1 We Got the Runs team. That upset was followed by the fourth seeded Club Foot defeating the undefeated Phillips Tae-Kwon-Do team. The DodgeBALLS and Club Foot met in the championship game, which the DodgeBALLS won 10-5.

In the lower division, the second seeded Hot Kickers faced the first seeded Balls and Dolls. The team jumped out early and led 8-1 at the end of the second inning, but the Hot Kickers didn’t give up and exploded with six more runs in the next three innings with timely kicking by Jason Cormier and Angie Debiase, but fell just short loosing 10-5.

The players of the game for The Balls and Dolls were Diana Little and Troy Turner. Not only was Troy outstanding at the plate, he also pitched during the game and helped record five outs throughout the game.
