Kentwood sophomore sets record

Tahoma junior snags first at state.

The Tahoma Bears finished 11th in state following the 2019 4A boys swim and dive championships at the King County Aquatics Center Feb. 15 and 16.

The Bears had a team score of 66.

Kentwood boys also placed in the top 38 in state at No. 33. The Conks scored 10 team points.

Snagging the 4A state title was Skyline with a score of 271.

Winning the state title and setting a new meet record in the 50 yard back was Kentwood sophomore Ben Stanton.

His time was 32.86.

Stanton placed second in the 50 yard free with a time of 26.94.

Kentwood freshman Chase Channing came in 14th in the 200 yard free. He finished with a time of 1:48.30.

Channing also placed 12th in the 100 yard fly with a time of 53.03.

The Conks 400 yard free relay team placed 16th overall with a time of 3:26.11.

Tahoma

Winning the state title in the 50 yard free was Tahoma junior Nathan Ainsworth.

Ainsworth finished .01 seconds ahead of the second place finisher with a time of 20.97 seconds.

Ainsworth also placed fifth in the 100 yard fly with a finals time of 51.75.

The Bears 200 yard free relay placed eighth — the relay team included Ainsworth, Colton Natwick, Devin Stanley and Mike Shinas.

The team finished in 1:30.01.

Tahoma’s 400 yard free relay also placed among the best in state at No. 14. The relay team also consisted of Ainsworth, Natwick, Stanley and Shinas.

The relay team finished with a time of 3:20.55.

In the one meter dive event, Tahoma senior Zachary Klobutcher finished 13th. He recored a score of 304.95.

Kentlake

The Falcons did not place at the state meet.
