Hot Kickers edge DodgeBALLS for fall kickball championship

The Hot Kickers upset the DodgeBALLS 6-5 for the Maple Valley Parks & Recreation adult kickball championship crown. The DodgeBALLS defeated the Hot Kickers in the final game of the regular season 15-6 to earn league honors, but the Hot Kickers came back for the top prize.

The DodgeBALLS defeated the Hot Kickers in the final game of the regular season 15-6 to earn league honors, but the Hot Kickers came back for the top prize.

The game started fast as the DodgeBALLS jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as the team’s female player of the game, Traci Dodge, bombed the ball into right field which started the rally.

The Hot Kickers answered in the top of the second inning as Dave Nelson started the inning with a single and eventually scored.

Both teams played solid defense and only allowed a couple runs setting up the final inning drama as the Hot Kickers led 6-5.

The DodgeBALLS’ Heather Rose started the inning with a single, but was quickly thrown out in the next at bat. The next kicker grounded out to the pitcher and the final DodgeBALL player flied out to left field, handing the victory to the Hot Kickers.

Players of the game for the Hot Kickers were Leah Nelson 2-3, one run and two singles and Nelson 2-4, three runs and one RBI.
