EMERALD DOWNS: Toss’m Again wins Friday feature

Toss’m Again wore down a resilient He’s All Heart in deep stretch for a one-length victory Friday in the $16,500 feature race for 3 year olds at Emerald Downs.

With the red-hot Troy Stillwell riding, Toss’m Again ran on mile in 1 minute 35 3/5 seconds on a fast track and paid $10.80, $5.60 and $3.20. Roy Lumm, who claimed the gelding last September, is the trainer and co-owner with Richard Ford and Linda Henson.

He’s All Heart, with regular rider Robert Burney up, took the lead from Enumerator inside the furlong marker, dug in but was gave way late. The 2-1 betting favorite, He’s All Heart paid $3.80 and $3.20.

It was a length back to Enumerator, who held third place under Gallyn Mitchell with a $3.80 show payoff.

A Washington-bred by Free at Last, Toss’m Again has compiled a 4-1-3 record in 12 starts with earnings of $45,333. Friday’s win was worth $9,075.

Track notes:

• Cassie Papineau broke the single-season record for wins by an apprentice jockey when she guided Frantic Annie to a two-length victory in the fourth race. It was the 48th win of the meeting for the 21-year-old Kennewick native, breaking the mark of 47 wins set by Jennifer Whitaker in 2001.

• Closing like an express train in the middle of the track, Lucy Lu edged out Reggie, the pace setter, for a dramatic victory Friday in the final heat of the annual Star 101.5 Kent & Alan Wiener Dog Races. It was the third straight year that Lucy Lu, the pride of Kent owner Robyn Armani, prevailed in the final.

• Vicky’s Fast Boy ($4) won his fourth straight race with a gate-to-wire score under Troy Stillwell in the fourth race. Stillwell, pinch-hitting for Ricky Frazier, is the sixth jockey to hit the 30-win mark at the meet. With riding doubles the last two nights, Stillwell has 31 wins and is clicking at nearly 14 percent wins.

• Vicky’s Fast Boy joined Louder, Panatela, Yes Bay and Jasmine’s Melody as horses to win four races at the meet.

• Racing continues Saturday with the 30th running of the $75,000 Washington Oaks for 3-year-old fillies.
