Disc golf course opens in Maple Valley

There is a new disc golf course for youths, adults and families to enjoy in Maple Valley.

There is a new disc golf course called Gaffney’s Grove Disc Golf Course for youths, adults and families to enjoy in Maple Valley.

It was presented to the Parks Commission on March 23, 2016 and is now open to the public.

The course had its grand opening Saturday, June 10.

According to Allison Scott, the recreation specialist at the Maple Valley Parks and Recreation department, about 20 people showed up for the ribbon cutting.

Disc golf is similar to regular golf, but a Frisbee-like disc is used instead of actual golf balls.

It is still an 18 hole game, but players throw the discs into nets rather than holes.

The location is the peninsula site between the arboretum and the community center, which is part of Lake Wilderness Park.

The 8.73 acre course has parking nearby and is easy to access, according to the city of Maple Valley.
