We are quickly entering my favorite season of the year.
For those who know me, you would think I enjoy fall because the weather changes – but that is only part of the reason.
The change in weather is a nice plus because I am nowhere near a fan of the heat. I live in an apartment where it is hotter inside than outside.
So it is nice when the temperatures start to drop and I can once again wear long pants and socks!
But aside from cooler days and nights, we are also entering football season.
I cannot contain how excited I am to cover the Panthers and Spartans. (The paper I am employed at is the Bonney Lake-Sumner Courier-Herald where I cover Bonney Lake and Sumner High Schools.)
And I can spend my weekends cheering on the Dawgs and the Hawks!
This is by far the best time of the year.
As a reporter, I love to cover all things sports related, but nothing compares to football.
Being able to stand on the sidelines, bundled up in layers of jackets with a hat and gloves on is a great feeling. I may get a little cold and numb from time to time but I love the energy that comes from watching play after play.
And the perks of being a reporter allow me to be close to the action.
Not only have I loved writing about games since I was in high school, I also have come to love capturing moments in a photograph. It is great to be able to then share it with the community.
Another thing about football season is that it brings so many people together.
That was especially true when the Seahawks entered the season as the defending Super Bowl champions!
That makes all the crazed football fans of Seattle even more excited than in previous years.
For me, it also gives me something to look forward to.
A lot of people enjoy the holidays and look forward to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years but I love the idea of knowing what I’m going to be doing on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the next few months.
I have been waiting for this time of year, basically since it came to an end last year. I am so happy fall and football are back.
