Lady Gaga is arguably the biggest star in the world and over the past year she’s been interviewed by almost every major news outlet and journalist.

Barbara Walters named her one of the most fascinating people of 2009, Oprah interviewed her in November, Time magazine put her on the cover as one of the 100 most influential people in the world and she granted an interview to Larry King (who sported a pair of shades along with Gaga).

Strangely, throughout her media blitz she’s not yet been interviewed by “The Bonney Lake/Sumner Courier-Herald.”

As one of The Courier-Herald’s reporters, I would like to extend a formal invitation to you, Lady Gaga, to be interviewed for a story in our paper. It would be dishonest of me to pretend my reason for extending this invitation is entirely professional because the truth is I am a proud little monster (for readers unfamiliar with Gaga, she affectionately refers to her fans as “little monsters”) who would consider an interview with you to be a life- and career-affirming experience.

To put my fandom in perspective, when you toured North America in 2009, the closest of your concerts to me was in Vancouver, British Columbia. Not only did I drive almost three hours north in December weather, but I needed to obtain an enhanced driver’s license to enter and return from Canada. So I spent considerable time on a Saturday in line at the Department of Motor Vehicles to receive the proper documentation allowing me passage. The enhanced license does have an added bonus in that it’s a good conversation-starter and allows me to mention the Gaga-destination road trip.

Waitress checking my ID: “Ooh … this is one of those fancy ones.”

Me (little monster): “I needed to get this so I could see Lady Gaga in Canada.”

Exchanges similar to this occurred multiple times during my two-day stay in Vancouver, much to the chagrin of my accompanying friend, who politely refrained from rolling his eyes as I repeatedly and always proudly volunteered the reason for my “fancy” license. In the weeks leading up to your Vancouver show, I diligently called your record label, manager, publicist and even the booking agent at the concert hall where you were performing, trying to request an interview.

Since you are one of the busiest people in music, it is perfectly understandable if you decline this invitation. Please know if that’s the case it in no way changes my opinion of you. If you accept it would mean so much to me because you are sharing your valuable time with my community newspaper and I would be speaking with an incredibly interesting person for whom I have tremendous respect, but I don’t want you to feel any obligation to me as a fan. I will still be driving around listening to “The Fame Monster” on a practically constant rotation (my friends can’t understand how someone could listen to the same CD so many times, but there’s nothing I’d rather hear) and be at your concerts with my paws up.

I’ll be at your Vegas show in August so if you want to kick back after the show and talk, just name the place.

Thank you for being such a positive and inspiring force in a world which needs the boost and for all your wonderful music.
