Work on state Route 169 keeps moving on down the road

The road work on state Route 169 is moving ahead on schedule according to the state Department of Transportation.

Broch Bender, department spokesperson, said 55 concrete panel have been cut out between 248th and 250th street.

“Everything is on schedule,” Bender said. “There were some nights the crews couldn’t work because of weather.”

Bender said on nights when the rain was too heavy, the crews were able to complete other jobs related to the paving work.

The crews are also using noise shields according to Benders to “help block out the noise.”

The department has not received any complaints to date about the noise and the traffic backups have been minimal because work is started at 9 p.m. and stopped by 5 a.m.

The jobs calls for removing cracked concrete panels on SR 169 between S.E. 244th Street to S.E. 250th Street.

The 1.6 mile stretch of SR 169 between 264th to Witte Road will be repaved.

Work on the $2 million project is to continue through July.

Bender said if the level of construction noise is a problem, a resident may call (206)440-5169 to report the issue.
