The American Public Works Association has given its APWA Project of the Year Award to Covington for the city’s Southeast 256th Street/164th Avenue Southeast improvements.
The project included a double-lane roundabout at the intersection of the two streets and 3,000 lineal feet of sidewalks connecting nearby housing developments to two schools.
Gray and Osborne Inc. and R.W. Scott Construction were the project’s engineering consultant and contractor, respectively. City engineer Don Vondran said the project improved “one of the busiest intersections in Covington.”
APWA, based in Kansas City, Mo., is an international association of public agencies, private companies promoting high-quality public works.
