The National Weather Service is forecasting snow during the early morning hours Monday, which means the roads facing commuters could be slippery or icy.
The weather service is forecasting 1-to-3 inches of snow and light winds.
The snowy condition and cold nights are predicted with temperatures rising bringing rain by Wednesday night.

Tahoma High A-Teams will compete in a Saddle Up for Charity event on Dec. 7 to generate donations for the Maple Valley Food Bank.
Each advisory represents either Team Blue or Team Gold and will sport a bandanna of that color that will be distributed prior to the event.
A-Teams will collect and donate items. Items of need identified by the food bank include diapers, with medium and large needed the most, non-perishable food, personal hygiene and gifts for teens.

A suspect is in custody after allegedly kidnapping a Covington resident.
According to documents provided by the King County Sheriff’s office, on Nov. 8 the victim was grabbed and forced into a car, then driven to the suspect’s home where the victim was assaulted.

The King County Council approved the 2011 budget on a 7-2 vote Monday with council members Reagan Dunn and Pete von Reichbauer voting no.
Both Dunn and von Reichbauer took issue with the cuts to criminal justice system in the $5.1 billion county budget.
King County Sheriff Sue Rahr announced in September a plan to lay off 28 deputies to help close a $60 million deficit in the county budget. The prosecutor’s office is slated to lose 16 attorneys.

OFF ROAD: State Route 169. It was reported to officers a vehicle had driven off the road along state Route 169 and Southeast 288th Street. Upon arrival officers observed a vehicle down a 10-foot embankment and the man was still sitting in the driver’s seat. The man advised he was uninjured and just cut the corner too sharply. The officers did not observe any signs of medical or intoxication issues. During the accident investigation a records check of the male driver showed he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant from the King County Sheriff’s Office. The man was placed under arrest and booked into custody. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The first round of rough weather hit the area Monday evening with high winds and rain and cold weather is forecast to be on the way.
The Monday storm knocked power out in parts of Covington, Maple Valley, Black Diamond and the surrounding area. The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of 49 mph.
Outages included the Timberlane development in Covington and parts of Maple Valley.

One day I replaced the soap pump in my daughters’ bathroom as my oldest was standing there. When I got upset that I had purchased a straight soap dispenser and not a foaming soap dispenser, my daughter asked what the problem was. I explained to her it just dispensed straight soap instead of foaming soap. She said,”So?”
I looked up at my, 5 foot, 10 inch daughter and it slowly occurred to me that the reason for having a foaming dispenser was gone.

THEFT: 27500 block of Covington Way. After a stop at Costco, a man returned to his car in noticed his glove box was open, then discovered that his Glock pistol had been stolen. The suspect appeared to have cracked plastic around the driver’s side door handle lock to gain entry to the vehicle.

The National Weather Service release a wind advisory warning for the Puget Sound region tonight, Nov. 15.
Sustained winds are predicted up to 40 MPH with gust to 45.
Gust in the Maple Valley, Covington and Black Diamond area have left debris from trees on the road creating hazardous driving conditions on area roads.
