One dead, one injured following collision Sunday night

A Renton motorcyclist died after he struck a vehicle June 17 on state Route 169 in Maple Valley.

One motorcyclist is dead and another is in critical condition following a crash in Maple Valley Sunday night.

A media release late Monday said the crash occurred around 8:40 p.m. June 17 at Southeast 251st and Maple Valley-Black Diamond Road Southeast (state Route 169).

The investigation is ongoing, the King County Sheriff’s Office release stated.

So far the Sheriff’s Office has determined three motorcycles were traveling along SR 169 when they approached Southeast 251st as a sedan pulled out to turn southbound on SR 169.

The lead motorcyclist hit the rear portion of the sedan and the second motorcyclist hit the vehicle head on, the release stated.

The release added the third motorcyclist was able to avoid contact.

The 43-year-old female driver of the sedan was transported to Valley Medical Center for an evaluation. According to the release, she did not appear to be injured.

The 54-year-old Renton man driving the lead motorcycle was killed and the 35-year-old Renton man driving the second motorcycle was critically injured.

He was transported to Harborview Medical Center. At the time of the release, he was still at Harborview.
