King County Sheriff deputies found a tragic scene at a Maple Valley home in the early hours of Friday morning, May 24.
A toddler and his father were found dead at a house off the 213000 block of 277th Avenue Southeast.
King County Sgt. Ryan Abbott said a call was made at 10 p.m. to King County 911 dispatch from a female.
According to Abbott, when the caller returned home, she noticed that her 30-year-old boyfriend and her two-year-old son were gone and she couldn’t find them.
The caller found her son unresponsive and not breathing in a room within the house while on the phone with dispatch.
She immediately began CPR on the child and King County Sheriff deputies arrived soon after. The deputies continued CPR for quite some time until King County Medic One arrived on scene.
Medics continued life saving efforts, but were unsuccessful in reviving the child.
A short time later, Abbott said deputies were checking the house and in a different room located the boyfriend, who had a self inflicted gun shot wound to his head, according to Abbott.
Major Crime Unit detectives are calling this a murder-suicide case, Abbott said. The boyfriend is the main suspect.
This is an ongoing investigation. The story will be updated when more information is available.
