Man okay after kayak incident

Emergency crews were called to the Green River near Kanasket-Palmer State Park last Saturday after a man became unconscious while kayaking.

He was taken to a hospital as a precaution, but officials said he was in stable condition when he left the scene.

His friends took him to shore and called for help. Firefighters from Maple Valley and Fire District 47, among other agencies, responded to the call. When they arrived, the man, whose friends said had been unconscious for a while, was alert and able to speak.

Medics said a possible medical condition caused the man’s kayak to overturn.

The man’s age and name weren’t released.
