Cathy Lendosky knows the difficulties of encouraging to elementary school children to read books, and Friday she proved to be up to the challenge.

Lendosky, Jenkins Creek Elementary principal, challenged her students to read 2,186 books from March 23 to Friday. If the students came through she agreed to have 6 inches of her hair cut off.

The students read 3,338 books in 12 days and Lendosky, as good as her word, had her hair cut at the lunch periods Friday, much to the delight of the students.
